Sue Vize SBA - Botanical Artist
Sue Vize SBA - Member of the Society of Botanical Artists
Sue Vize is a full time artist and tutor of Botanical Illustration.
Most of her work is in coloured pencil or graphite but she also enjoys watercolour and pastels, producing highly detailed work in each medium. Within the traditions of botanical art, she prefers to work from live specimens, enabling her to capture tiny folds of a petal, or shadows falling on a leaf.
Having a particular interest in trees, Sue is currently working on a project to illustrate a collection of rare trees growing in the arboretum of Trent College in Derbyshire.
Sue has work in many private collections, including Nottingham University Plant Sciences Division, and regularly exhibits at Westminster Central Hall in London at the Society of Botanical Artists annual exhibition, and at many venues within the Midlands. Two of her graphite drawings have been selected by the Hunt Institute in Pennsylvania, USA, for their 13th International exhibition in 2010. She is a Member of the Society of Botanical Artists, a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society, and a member of the Florilegium Society in Sheffield, whose aim is to illustrate the plants of Sheffield Botanical Gardens.
Sue teaches botanical illustration to adults, running successful regular courses, workshops, and residential breaks in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Sue has had a number of her botanical paintings published as greetings cards by a major card manufacturer, and has also published her own collection of stationery and greetings cards from botanical, floral, and scenic paintings.
